Park ranger Esther Wheatley pilots the "strider" mecha Tarantula Hawk, keeping tabs on the Ribs, arid home to a subterranean species of massive insect called Armacada. Observing a feeding ritual occurring every seven years in the cover of a massive sandstorm, Esther discovers she is not the only interested party, and must protect the brood from marauders.

Written and illustrated from 2020-2023, this book is the first in the tale of Esther and her efforts to protect the rare megafauna that doomed her.
